Jef mertens b.1978 - geel

I graduated as a photographer in 2001 and became a self-taught filmmaker shortly after. I made my first documentary work following Sonic Youth on tour through Europe, which resulted in a couple of rough tour diaries. 

In 2007 I made my first documentary 'Dronevolk' revolving around 4 Belgian drone- and weirdfolk bands.

In 2016 I finished my second feature; this one on  the avant/noise group Borbetomagus, screening w/ certain acclaim worldwide.
